St. Louis Catholic Personal Finance, IBCA and Creative Coding teacher Ashley Lavine obtained her WISE financial literacy certification for educators at the Southern Business Education Association conference in October.

As a result, Lavine is able to help her personal finance classes become certified with this credential free of charge, further paving the way for Saints students to become financially capable adults. Also St. Louis Catholic’s FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) sponsor, Lavine was appointed to the role of membership committee chair for Louisiana to the Southern Business Education Association and National Business Education Association as well.

“It was a great experience to see, learn, share and collaborate with other business teachers across 12 states in the Southern region,” Lavine said. “I was able to attend several workshops such as business teacher practices, business teacher resources, certifications and FBLA adviser sharing.  One highlight in particular that interests me was the National Business Honor Society.

“Business Education courses are so critical to our students’ futures now, in college and beyond college.”
