As we approach the end of the first semester, we continued a tradition at St. Louis Catholic to honor our Blessed Mother Mary and observe as a school community the feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is Dec. 8.

Our campus minister, Sister Maria Jose Perez, organized the Marian Procession, a school-wide procession and praying of the rosary at five different stations across campus, one for each decade.  Freshman, sophomore, junior and senior religion classes led the joyful mysteries of the rosary with school chaplain Rev. Ruben Villarreal, and Liturgical Choir director Ashley Lavine played Marian hymns as the procession advanced.  The special celebration concluded with the Litany of Loreto led by Principal Andrew Bradley and Assistant Principal Mia Orgeron, and a beautiful rendition of “Immaculate Mary” by the Liturgical Choir.

“There is a thirst at this school to participate in the life of the church and in the different devotions and forms of prayer,” said Sister Maria Jose.  “And it’s my job to bring these different prayer opportunities to the forefront, to make prayer come alive in the lives of these young people.”
