St. Louis Catholic High School Foundation

During this season of giving, please consider giving the gift of Catholic Education to the present and future students of St. Louis Catholic High School.  The St. Louis Catholic Foundation, the Trust Fund for The Future, was established in 1983 for the sole purpose of giving financial assistance to St. Louis Catholic High School.  Any gift would be appreciated: one-time gift, recurring gift, planned giving or an endowed scholarship.

A gift to the St. Louis Catholic Foundation is a fitting memorial in honor of a loved one or to acknowledge a birthday, wedding, anniversary, Christmas or other occasion.  All gifts are invested perpetually with only the interest spendable.

An appropriate acknowledgement for the occasion will be sent, and no amount will be mentioned.

To make your memorial donation online, please click here or send a  check to 1620 Bank Street; Lake Charles, LA 70601, or contact Foundation & Planned Giving Advisor, Ashley Ivey-Atkins at 337-436-7275 ext. 237 or aatkins@slchs.org with any questions.

It is the desire of the St. Louis Catholic High School community to provide a Catholic education to all students who meet the criteria for admission and who choose St. Louis Catholic for their high school education.

Governed by a Board of Directors, the St. Louis Catholic Foundation distributes one-half of its earned income to the school and reinvests the second half, meaning that every gift to the Foundation is perpetual.

To provide additional support to the school in the form of scholarships, and to offer donors a means of permanently naming a scholarship in honor or in memory of a loved one, The St. Louis Catholic Foundation Endowed Scholarship Program has been established.

Donors will receive recognition or remain anonymous according to their wishes. The donor decides upon what basis the scholarship is distributed, as long as it is consistent with the principles of Catholic education. For example, the scholarship criteria may be based upon a student’s academic accomplishments or financial need.  We are grateful to those who have established endowed scholarships at St. Louis Catholic High School:

The St. Louis Legacy Society consists of forward-thinking individuals who make or bequeath planned gifts of any amount to secure the future of St. Louis Catholic High School.

Planned gifts usually are gifts that you plan now but the school does not receive until later. When received, planned gifts are held and invested by the St. Louis Catholic Foundation.

What are reasons for Planned Giving and for joining the St. Louis Legacy Society?

Individuals give to their churches, schools and other entities for many reasons – some personal and some private. These include philanthropic desires, such as religious and spiritual commitment, belief in education and fostering one’s values, ideals and beliefs. Other reasons include potential tax benefits, personal recognition and a desire to share one’s good fortune with others. By becoming part of the St. Louis Catholic Foundation’s permanent endowment, your planned gift continues to give year after year.

What can I give?

CASH GIFTS can be made either directly or as a pledge gift. Cash gifts of any amount are gratefully accepted. Substantial cash gifts are eligible for permanently-named endowment opportunities.

APPRECIATED ASSETS generally include stocks, bonds, mutual funds and real estate. Gifts of appreciated assets can have significant tax benefits.

WILLS AND BEQUESTS: Do you have a will? Only 30% of Americans do. Remembering St. Louis Catholic in your will can be very simple.

LIFE INSURANCE can be used in a variety of ways to benefit St. Louis Catholic while still protecting your spouse and heirs.

RETIREMENT FUNDS: Taxes on funds left in retirement plans or IRAs can be significant. Gifts of retirement plans and IRA funds to St. Louis Catholic can benefit the school greatly while not significantly reducing the amounts left to your spouse and children.

CHARITABLE TRUSTS: These methods of giving may have significant tax benefits and may also provide additional income to you during your life. In some cases gifts can be structured to leave your family more rather than less assets after taxes are paid.

What’s next?

To join the St. Louis Legacy Society, simply notify the Foundation that you have made or will make a planned gift of any amount to St. Louis Catholic.

To be honored in the school’s annual report, you need only tell our Advancement Office that you have named St. Louis Catholic in your planned giving. The terms of your gift do not need to be divulged, and you may remain anonymous if desired.
