Ribbon Cutting Celebrating New Modular Campus

Ribbon Cutting Celebrating New Modular Campus

Lake Charles, LA– On Monday, October 26, 2020, at 10 a.m., St. Louis Catholic High School celebrated the culmination of a goal set one month ago with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony opening the new modular campus after Hurricane Laura created catastrophic damage to the main campus. The ceremony took place at the new “mod campus” at 1620 Bank Street Lake Charles, LA 70601.

As of right now, St. Louis Catholic High School is the only Catholic High School in a fifty mile radius. Bishop Glen John Provost was in attendance for a special blessing along with Rev. Nathan Long, Rector, Rev. Ruben Buller, Vicar General, John Ieyoub, City Council, SLCHS Advisory Council & Finance Council members, Visit Lake Charles, The Chamber of Commerce and many more distinguished friends & guests.

The first day of in-person classes was October 21 after COVID-19 and hurricane-related closures.  The modular campus, under the direction of Russell J. Stutes Construction, includes 23 new portable buildings interconnected with over 16,000 square feet of decking, allowing for nearly 35 classrooms and 10 offices.

St. Louis Catholic is the first in the Diocese to be set up with a temporary learning facility following the storms and is one of four schools that sustained major damage.
