Elise Bourque, Andrew Castle, Colin Schram Highlight 2019 TWIRP Court

National Honor Society sponsors TWIRP Week, and the 2019 TWIRP Court was crowned after Mass Wednesday.

All students with a 3.5 GPA and above go on the ballot for voting, and each grade votes on students to represent their class on the TWIRP Court.  The senior queen was Elise Bourque, and two senior kings were crowned – Andrew Castle and Colin Schram.

Freshmen TWIRP court members (left to right) are Brennan Welsh, William Millican, Thomas Lavergne, Myca Trail, Alyssa Morton and Gretchen Hanley.  Sophomores are Matthew Aleshire, Will Canup, Ivan Appleton, J.D. Self, Wesley Maze, Reem Husein, Trinity Foret and Mary Dempsey.  Juniors are Lucas Manuel, Gabe Meyer, Joseph Belcher, Zach Benoit, Madeline Stickell, Abbie Lechtenberg, Abigail Fontenot, Alivia Mudd and Grace Theriot.  Seniors are Benji Chatters, Andrew Castle, Elise Bourque, Colin Schram, Preston Blanchard, Alexandria Goodly, Emily Graham, Emma Kuehn and Grace Chapman.

There will be no TWIRP (The Woman Is Required To Pay) Dance this year because Prom is Feb. 23.  However, Thursday, Feb. 7, is College/Career Day, and Friday, Feb. 8, is a Spirit Dress Day for students.

Saints Cheerleading Tryouts Are March 13-15, 2019

2019-2020 St. Louis Catholic High School cheerleading tryouts are open to any student rising to 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade.  Candidates must be enrolled at St. Louis Catholic High School on the date of tryouts, so incoming freshmen who receive their acceptance letters in February are eligible.  You must sign the Cheerleader Constitution and bring it with you on the first day of tryoutsClick here to download the constitution.

For anyone who was not a previous St. Louis Catholic cheerleader, there is a mandatory clinic on Monday, March 11, where you will learn the group chant for tryouts from 4-5 p.m.  Then tryouts are Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14, in Krajicek Gym from 4-6 p.m.  On Friday, March 15, juniors and seniors report from 4-5:30 p.m., and freshmen and sophomores try out from 5-6:45 p.m.  Cheerleaders must wear a white sports bra, white tank top, black shorts, white crew socks, and white bow/ribbon with high ponytail to tryouts.

NOTE: The 2019–2020 Saints Cheerleading team will be posted by number only, in no particular order on the Cheer Facebook and Instagram pages. The numbers will be divided into JV and Varsity teams and will be posted March 15 by 10 p.m.  There will be a parent meeting on Monday, March 18, at 5 p.m. with uniform fittings to follow.  Mandatory spring practice begins Wednesday, March 20, from 3-5 p.m.

St. Louis Catholic Soccer Teams Advance to Quarterfinals

The No. 1 seed Saints and No. 5 seed Lady Saints will continue their 2019 playoff journeys with quarterfinal games after advancing through the regional round Tuesday night in Lake Charles.

The girls blanked No. 21 West Feliciana, 8-0, and the boys completed the doubleheader with a 4-1 victory against No. 16 DeRidder.   Click here to watch highlights.
